Data & Measurement Design

I work with organizations to create and implement Theories of Change, Data Principles, Evidence and Analysis Plans, and Data Strategies that are values- and mission-aligned.

Before we can effectively collect, manage, and use our data, we must get clear on why we need the data! Often, organizations cast a wide net: they collect whatever data they can and ask questions of those data later. This results in wasted time, energy, and a cloudy view into impact. This approach can also cause harm: data collection is an extractive activity, and unless we’re clear about our intentions from the beginning, we risk upholding the violence of systems many of us are working to dismantle.

Organizational Effectiveness & Learning

I work with organizations to build out and strengthen their learning practices. We might work together on:

  • designing and practicing lean learning and reflective practices that are tailored to existing processes

  • during times of Leadership transition, conduct a Knowledge Retention process to move institutional knowledge out of folks’ heads and into organizational memory

  • developing compassionate and effective ways of working that support learning

  • learning how to learn together

These processes are those of skill- and trust-building—teams come out on the other side with a new understanding of their work and with a replicable shared practice for navigating change as a team.
